Exploring Ecological Health Justice

22nd July 2025 Leave a Comment

The People’s Health Movement Scotland are coordinating a working group for this year’s Land Moot weekend, organised by Scottish Histories of Resistance.

Our working group (Health) will explore themes around ecological health justice and the journey from land to soil to bacteria and the human microbiome. We want to gather as many localised perspectives as we can on health inequalities and the relationships between land and health. Together, we’ll consider what a movement for an ecological public health framework might look like in Scotland.

We aim to meet online regularly in the lead-up to the Land Moot event, to share our ideas and plan out a workshop to hold over the weekend (10 – 12 October in Glasgow).

We will be holding the first meeting of the working group on August 12th from 6.30pm – 8pm over Zoom. We’ll be covering things like:

  • Introducing ourselves, our work and our organisations (if applicable)
  • Brief introduction to the core themes we plan to focus on
  • Early reflections on the relationships between land and health
  • Agreeing a time, format and frequency for our next meetings

If you’re interested in joining this meeting, please register here!
